GARMA Celebrates 50 years for August First Friday

GARMA IS CELEBRATING 50 YEARS!

• GARMA's Constitution was created October 11, 1972
• Originally called the Retail Merchants Association
• In 1972, dues for members were $125, plus $5 for every employee working over 30 hours per week, plus $2.50 for every employee working under 30 hours per week. A maximum of $250 per year

Antique Shows 

• Antique Shows are held the 3rd Saturday of May and the 4th Saturday of September
• Vendor fees for the Antique Shows are set aside to purchase new decorations for Christmas
• Once the Baltimore St. revitalization project is complete, GARMA will be tasked with purchasing about 50+ new wreaths for Christmas

Christmas in Gettysburg

• GARMA owns and houses Gettysburg's Christmas decorations - 32' Christmas Tree, over 100 wreaths, Santa's Shanty
• GARMA's Tree Lighting has become an annual event to kick off the Gettysburg Holiday Season
• Part of membership dues are used toward the maintenance of the decorations, Santa's salary, insurance and upkeep of the building used to house the tree, wreaths, and shanty

First Friday, Gettysburg Style

• First Friday was created by the late Jen LeVan
• Board members will be around town on August 5 distributing balloons to participating First Friday members
• A First Friday Committee creates all of the wonderful social media graphics and posts that are for ALL members to share and use for their businesses
