Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Pink Journey of Lights is an awareness and fund-raising event in Adams County, PA during the month of October, to raise awareness of breast cancer and to raise money for 3 Adams County funds: Pink Out Women's Cancer Fund, Gettysburg Hospital Foundation Adams County Cancer Patient Help Fund, and the Adams County Breast Cancer Coalition Free Mammogram Fund. All of the surrounding communities in Adams County are being challenged to become involved!

The idea behind Pink Journey of Lights is for businesses and homes to decorate with pink lights to raise awareness and show support for the month. Pink Lights may be purchases at area businesses to support this cause. Businesses are encouraged to run specials and promotions throughout the month of October to drive customers into their businesses to raise month for the causes. A two day concert weekend of October 3rd and 4th called the "Pink House music Festival" including all female bands or female fronted bands at local bars and restaurants.

Salsa on teh Square

Salsa on the Square is sponsored by Project Gettysburg-Leon

The Eighth Annual Salsa on the Square, a celebration of 30 years of Gettysburg's relationship with León, Nicaragua, and a Fiesta observing the contribution of Latino people to Adams County. The celebration features live salsa music by Hector Rosado and Orquesta A-CHE. DJ Solalinde will play dance music between sets. There will be dancing, food by local restaurants and children's games and activities, Mayor Troxell will make a proclamation declaring Hispanic Heritage Day in Gettysburg. the ambassador to the U.S. from Nicaragua, Francisco Campbell, will be present.

See you on Carlisle Street between the Square and the Railroad Tracks. Food service begins at 5:30pm and dancing starts at 6:45pm.
